Navigate the World's Knowledge

Find literature, experts or journals across the globe.

about

A Campus is a special place

On campuses around the globe, bright minds work together for universities, startups and research institutions.

What if you could access all that knowledge in mere seconds?

Find academic experts

Use powerful Artificial Intelligence to find experts.

  • Understanding-driven queries to identify the best fit.
  • Matches are based on relevance of content - not on spurious bibliometric factors
  • Use affiliation data for Conflict of Interest checks and specific filtering

You can take control of the algorithm by teaching it what you are looking for. This way, you as a user are in control of the search, and the AI is merely making suggestions.

features-1

Explore Literature

Are you exploring a new field, or simply making sure you haven't missed important research? What if your peers are using different terminology from yours?

With Global Campus, you can employ Semantic Search to discover related articles in your field based on their content. Irrespective of citations, journals or keywords - we use the content of the articles to identify relevant papers for your field.

  • Discover a new field using natural language
  • Identify new keywords to bring to other search applications.
  • Use Active Learning to navigate interactively and zoom in on the literature you like
features-3

Scout candidates

Some job positions require very specific expertise and skills. And while researchers know their field well, most disciplines are so large that excellent candidates also exist outside of established networks. How do you find them?

With Global Campus, recruiters and vacancy holders can identify international expertise:

  • Find people like professor John Doe: search using the name of an academic to find academics with a similar publication record.
  • Filter on the basis of seniority and by looking at author position.
  • Easily explore profiles on other social networks.
  • Export your list to share it easily with colleagues.
features-2

Identify Journals

Where to submit this new manuscript? As a researcher, you are likely familiar with the top tier journals in your field. But what if you are publishing a paper in a tangential discipline? Or if the paper has been rejected by critical peer reviewers of these top journals?

With Global Campus, you can use Semantic Search to find the journals that have published similar work in the past.

  • Find journals on the basis of matching content instead of bibliometric factors
  • Get a list of matching papers to include in your submission
  • Filter by type to find conferences or preprint servers too

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Semantic Search?

Semantic Search uses AI models to interpret your search query. This means it can use the context and is able to find synonyms for the words that you provide. Semantic Search benefits from more context! So in contrast to what many people are familiar with, longer queries actually perform better.

  • Which data does Global Campus use?

Global Campus primarily uses the data generously provided by OpenAlex (openalex.org). In addition, Global Campus also aggregates research project information and even allows semantic search on some proprietary datasets brought by customers.

  • Why can’t I filter on gender?

The simple answer is, because we don't know what the gender of the academics are. The current way how other providers show gender, is with AI-based approaches. With a few exceptions, like on LinkedIn, where you control your own profile and can state your gender yourself. The AI-approaches used by others is a concerning practice in our view since the models used to ‘guess’ the gender of these people are first of all not outperforming humans in guessing someone's gender. And secondly, it implies you are making up personal information, which is in our view in direct contradiction with the GDPR.

  • Why is this expert I know of not appearing on the list of suggested experts?

There are a few potential reasons when you can't find the information you expected. First of all, there could be errors in the data of OpenAlex where a specific publication that would match your query is linked to the wrong authors, therefore we are suggesting the wrong people. Send a request to OpenAlex to improve the data here: Secondly, we only match back with academic publications back to January 2018. If you expected to find someone based on an older paper, the most likely reason that we are not finding that person is because the signatory paper is not included in the search. We only match back to 2018 to ensure the results are relatively recent. We don't want to suggest an expert based on a 25 year old paper, we want to suggest experts based on their work in the last couple of years in that topic.

  • Is Global Campus compliant with GDPR?

Yes, Global Campus is compliant with GDPR. We use data from a public database, OpenAlex. The ground for processing is grounded in legitimate interest. There is a prevalent movement within academia advocating for open science and a longstanding tradition of peer interaction. Global Campus proudly stands as the inaugural platform in academia to align with this tradition by utilising open-source data, distinguishing themselves from other vendors reliant on proprietary data. Embracing open source within academia aligns with various declarations, such as DORA, and supporting the growing trend among funders and organisations to promote FAIR principles (making data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable).
