If 2024 was already a memorable year for us, 2025 was, without a doubt a year of growth.
We started the year by announcing a new partnership with Reviewer Credits and later on we partnered with Signals, integrating Signals badges into Global Campus to include research integrity checks when searching for reviewers. Just before the end of the year, we could officially announce our integration with ScholarOne, a critical integration to continue working with publishers in 2026.
In September, during peer review week, we were part of two webinars: Ensuring Reviewer Credibility with Signals and Fantastic peer reviewers and where (and how) to find them with Reviewer Credits. Another of our partners, Kriyadocs, interviewed Paul about AI’s role in research funding, peer review, and the future of scholarly communication. Paul was also invited for an episode of The Publisherspeak Podcast, by Kriyadocs, where he discussed the reviewer crunch, how AI can support researchers and what to watch out for when it comes to AI.
One of this year’s highlights was the growth of our team. We welcomed two new backend developers: Martin, who joined us in June, and Fabrizio, who came on board in August. Fabrizio is also collaborating with the Applied Quantum Algorithms (AqA) group at Leiden University. Their contributions are already making an impact, with several new features recently added to Global Campus.
This year we attended some relevant conferences APE 2025 in Berlin, NWO ICT Open 2025, SSP 2025 Annual meeting, ALPSP Annual Conference, Frankfurt Bookfair and, at the end of the year, the STM Innovation Fair in London. Attending these conferences allowed us to reconnect with customers, meet some prospects, showcase the work we have been doing with Global Campus and of course enjoying fun karaoke and dinner nights!
2025 was also the year that we hosted our first Global Campus User’s Day, bringing together an engaged and enthusiastic community of users. Between inspiring talks and practical workshops, the event confirmed what we value most: a collaborative community that openly shares ideas and challenges.
After the summer, we launched our first LinkedIn campaign, sharing our first white paper, Global Campus: a tool to find relevant academic experts. Although we struggled a bit with finding the right settings for the campaign, it marked an important first step in our outreach efforts towards the academic community. We are definitely planning on building on this in 2026, most likely around EARMA Annual Conference, which will be hosted in Utrecht this year!
Throughout the year, we deployed new features to Global Campus: Teams and sharing and New filters, Query deletion and Collection in the network graph, e-mail address feedback and integration of the Signals badge and Author Profiles, Table view and Profile Comparison, as well as some minor, but significant, bug fixes and improvements.
During 2025, we enthusiastically welcomed several new clients, universities, funders and some single accounts: Kika, Malta, Jonkoping, AACR, AGU, Utrecht University, Erasmus Rotterdam, Alzheimer Nederland, UCC, VU Amsterdam, the British Heart Foundation, the Danish funder (DFF) and last but certainly not least, the European Research Council.
During this year Global Campus was also involved in numerous matchmaking projects, matching Horizon Europe calltopics to all researchers in an institution based on their publications. Many universities in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Austria are already making use of the results. This was the first year we could link the results to a Global Campus query, so academics could directly start their search for relevant collaboration partners.
In conclusion, 2025 was a year with important milestones for us by starting our collaboration with the ERC, integrating with ScholarOne and building many more relationships in publishing and in the academic community. 2026 looks bright with much more to come!
